Welcome to Emergent Commons

Making Sense Together for a More Connected World

What's special about this community?

This is a member and volunteer-supported community that emerged from the work of Rebel Wisdom. As indicated in our Purpose Statement, we have found that *how* we relate to each other is an essential aspect of our foundation and growth--at least as important as what we discuss or do together.

What's important for me to know before joining?

Because a main focus in this community is relational in nature, we strongly encourage using real names-- at the very least a first name and last initial.  We also strongly encourage the use of real photos.

We invite you to a 1:1 Zoom Greeting call before admission to Emergent Commons.  Please check the e-mail you used for a message titled “Greetings from Emergent Commons” to schedule a greeting once you submit your request.

Onboarding New members please start here: https://emergent-commons.mn.co/posts/welcome-new-member-onboarding-start-here  There is a New Member checklist with two recommended short videos at the beginning.

How can I engage here?

Here we can practice, explore and connect, with places to post/comment, as well as a variety of Zoom meetings led by members.  Some of what we do:

Share what lights us up and explore what sparks others

Engage in relational practices and experiments

Discuss current events, philosophical questions and spiritual journeys in an open and depolarized way

Share art/poetry/music

Join or start Crews to do all of the above

Find other members in your geographic region

Who funds the use of the Mighty Networks platform and other expenses?

We have a Patreon account where community members can contribute funds, which cover current platform and Zoom  costs.

How is Emergent Commons organized?

We have teams of volunteers that make decisions under a constitution, and we encourage input and involvement from all members.

How do I use the platform to engage?

We offer a quick-start guide to using Mighty Networks (our platform), the 1:1 Greeter calls, and we have a Tech team for support that can be found in our Community Guide space under the About menu.
